The advances in technology have inevitably brought educators and learners to a transformational age to embracetechnology-based teaching methodologies. It’s not to replace the traditional class models, but rather an enhancement of students learning experience in terms of differentiated instruction, pacing, participation, personal interaction and students’ ability levels. However,how can we turn smart phones and hand-held devices into tools for sustaining engagement, expand interactive learning beyond the classroom, and empowering learning on the go?What are some of the handy free mobile applications to energize your class and bring contents to life?In this interactive session we will explore the most commonly used applications and discover how to best leverage technology in and beyond classroom to provide students a more personalized learning experience.
主讲人简介:
Hua Zhang received her MA in Second Language Acquisition and Language Testing. She is a veteran Chinese teacher and was the World Language Department Chair at the Miami Valley School in Dayton, Ohio, USA. She recently accepted the position as the Chinese Language Department chair at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, Florida. She is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Language and Culture Journal in North America and serves as the Teacher Training Specialist at UMASS Confucius Institute in Boston. She currently holds an advanced professional license in teaching Chinese in Ohio and Maryland. In the past six years, five of her Chinese students entered the final round of the annual National Chinese Bridge Contest in the Confucius Institute at UMASS Boston. Her students claimed national championship at the intermediate category in 2011, 2012 and 2013 concurrently, of which Manish Paranjpe and Mollie Greenberg won 2nd place in the 2012 and 2013 International Chinese Bridge Contests respectively, the highest award U.S. students have ever achieved. She is on the judge committee for U.S. National Chinese Bridge Contest since 2014. Hua has published multiple essays and books on Second Language Learning and Teaching since 1989. She has made many presentations at AP Chinese workshops, OFLA conferences, ACTFL and Boston Teacher Training workshops regarding Chinese Learning and Teaching. She has been working as Chinese AP reader since 2008, and as Mandarin content consultant for the Pearson National Evaluation Systems.
